Widgets: Revenue

Revenue is the largest group of widgets. They all calculate on sales through the cash register, and they come at four levels: total revenue as a single figure, and broken down per employee, per product group or per product as a table.

Choose the level according to what the figure is for:

  • A simple figure suits an info screen, where it has to be readable from a distance.
  • A table suits finding out who or what is driving the numbers – but it requires standing close to the screen.

If you need both, create two widgets of the same figure and put them on separate tabs.

In addition to the four levels there are four specialised revenue widgets:

  • Hourly revenue per employee: revenue relative to working hours, as a table per employee. Available on its own, against another period and against a target. This is the figure that shows who earns the most per hour – not just the most in total.
  • Revenue year to date vs. last year: a bar chart comparing this year with last year.
  • Revenue products/product groups as % vs. other products/product groups: what share selected products make up compared with other selected products. Use it, for example, to track whether product sales are keeping up alongside treatments.
  • Revenue based on the current price of the service: calculates on the services' current price rather than what was actually invoiced. It is based on bookings and can be limited by attendance, customer group, calendar group and booking status.

Most revenue widgets can be limited by cash register, products and product groups, employees and clerks – but they do not all support the same ones. Hourly revenue, for example, can only be limited by employee, and Revenue based on the current price has an entirely different set, because it calculates on bookings rather than register sales.

So check the description of the template before planning a dashboard around a particular slice of data.
